BRIEF HISTORY
The station was established in April, 1956 bearing the name Tupi Seed Farm (TSF) and then became Tupi Experiment Station and Seed Farm (TESSF). With the succession of leadership in 1988, the station was under the supervision of Mr. Vicente V. Muyco until his retirement on July 8, 2009. Dr. Lorna P. Vilbar was then designated as OIC- Center Chief, backed up by 20 permanent employees and 6 contractual workers/JOs supporting the station activities and field operations. By virtue of Administrative Order Nos. 6 and 19 converting all DA Experiment Stations, Animal Breeding Centers, Crop Protection Laboratories and existing RIARS as integral part of the Regional Integrated Agricultural Research Centers, it was renamed SMIARC.
As a research facility of DA-RFU 12, the station was named SMIARC- Outreach Station for Crops since 1993. Under EO no. 36 Region 12 was reorganized to be known as SOCCSKSARGEN Region. The station now serves as a satellite station of the Central Mindanao Integrated Agricultural Research Center based at Amas, Kidapawan City under DA-RFU 12 and renamed as CEMIARC for Upland and Lowland.
The birth of DA-CEMIARC Tupi, South Cotabato Region 12, of the then DA-SMIARC XI boasts its growth with its major accomplishments on research, seed production, plant materials production, and maintenance.
